safety of all those at work in wind turbines, it is mandatory in most countries
that wind turbine service lifts are fitted with a fall protection system to
prevent injury or harm coming to those climbing ladders and using the lifts.
Alimak Service is uniquely positioned to
deliver exceptional service across servicing and maintenance, inspections,
repairs, Avanti training, refurbishments and the replacement of Avanti parts
such as the Avanti runner which operates as part of the wider fall protection
system. One of the most essential Avanti parts, the Avanti runner utilises a
‘click on/click off’ mechanism designed for ease of use and allows up to three
workers to climb a ladder system at any given time. As an additional safety
measure, the ‘click on/ click off’ system has a double lock system to prevent
falls.
Annual inspections should be carried out on all
Avanti runners and fall protection systems. Alimak Service technicians
specialising in Avanti products are able to test and confirm the compliance of
these components with Avanti and safety regulations. Alimak Service inspections
of the Avanti runner and fall protection system restore the condition of the
equipment to ‘as new’. Alimak Service
utilises a global support network to facilitate an exchange programme with a
fast turnaround to speed up the inspection process of Avanti runners and reduce
downtime for service lifts. Several Avanti training courses available from
Alimak Service also cover the basics of how to inspect wind turbine service
lifts and their components to ensure the day to day safety of operators. Avanti
runners inspected by Alimak Service are fully warranted and covered for 12
months following the inspection.
